Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1960 Nash Metropolitan
Convertible for purchase. The British Nash Motor Company noticed
that post-WWII American automotive producers were all under the
spell of "bigger is better". Nash sought to develop an economical
and smaller alternative that really didn't exist in North America.
With help from Detroit based independent designer, William Flajole,
and some styling help from Pinin Farina Nash created and exported
the Metropolitan. It was marketed as a simple 2nd car for the
family when needed. It's known for its size of course, but also as
being the first car that was marketed to women. In a time where
this car just may appear as tiny for being tiny, the reviews came
back overwhelmingly positive on the styling and performance leaving
a lasting legacy in the classic car market today.
This gorgeous Nash Metropolitan was very meticulously restored and
no expense was spared. It has an extensive and impressive file of
receipts that total over $13,000. The owner of the car spent 9
years tediously replacing what seems to be every nut and bolt on
the car. To find a Nash such as this one that is as solid and
cosmetically presentable as this one is truly impressive. The peppy
55HP, 1500cc engine runs as it should and is mated to a manual "3
on the tree "column shift transmission. The black and white
interior is immaculate. All the chrome, both inside and out have a
high shine. The Nash comes with a service manual and parts
catalogue. It also has the tool kit and jack. The engine and
surrounding area are highly detailed and present very well. The car
rides on Firestone deluxe champion 5.60-13 whitewall tires. This
Nash Metropolitan convertible is one of the finest we have seen. It
is turn key, ready to enjoy.
