In 1966, Dodge made available three different trim level Coronets.
These trim levels included the Deluxe series, the 440 series and
the 500 series. The 500 was the top level that was available for
the Coronet. It came with the same features as the 440, and also
came with a center console, padded instrument panel, bucket seats
and wheel covers. The key visual features that separate this 500
series from the 440 series is the 500' script on the front fenders
and four vertical louvers just ahead of the rear fender wells.
Decoding the VIN on this Coronet shows that this car is truly a
special vehicle. Most Coronet 500's were fitted with a 273 cubic
inch V-8 engine; however, the fifth digit in this VIN is "H." This
signifies that from the factory this Coronet was fitted with a
"Street Hemi" 426 cubic inch V-8 engine with two four-barrel
carburetors. The car has been decoded by Galen Govier and he states
that this Dodge Coronet is one-of-one with the equipped options.
Before this car had the professional nut and bolt restoration
completed; it was a solid, rust free example. The exterior is
finished with Hemi Light Green paint work with a black vinyl top.
