This is a great Original unmolested 1962 Mercury Meteor Custom, 2 door coupe. It is being powered by a excellent running original ( according to previous owner) 260 V8 with a smooth shifting original automatic transmission. This beautiful car came to us from its second owner, who owned his own mechanic shop for 30 plus years, so this car has had immaculate treatment for its entire life. We replaced the carpet and did a repaint, back to original color. The body on this car was in great shape, as was all the interior. This 1962 Mercury Meteor, has one of the coolest and totally chromed out dashes, that we have ever had in our showroom. When the green dash lights glow across the chrome background, it is as early 1960s as you will get. This crazy clean Merc even has a very rare and hard to find ( I had never seen one) original and working cold war radio. This radio was only produced during the Cuban missile crisis, and was put in a few cars with special arrows on the dial to show you where to tune your radio in case of a nuclear attack. This Radio, in this car is from a different and very specific time in this country. It is an amazing example of American auto makers during that time period. When you sit behind the original wheel of this 1962 classic, it really takes you back to a much simpler time in our world. This 1962 Meteor has been garaged its entire life, that is evident by the great condition of its huge amount of exterior and interior trim. This 1962 American Classic, was only made for 3 years in very limited numbers. If you want to hit the Cruse In with a very unique and cool car that nobody else will have, Or maybe ever have seen. This is the one. This was truly the very end of the 1950s styled Chromed out automobiles. This great classic is truly the last of a generation, of very cool cars that have never been seen again. A time when it was more about Chrome and tail fins as it was about economy and sensibility.
