Vehicle Description
One of the Sting Rays everyone searches for is a 1967 Chevrolet
Corvette convertible with a numbers-matching big block L68 427
still under the hood, and of course, four on the floor to really
get to enjoy it all. So when you can find one that is this
exceptionally well preserved/restored (even the clock works!),
that's also in a terrifically coordinating color package, then you
know this is the 'Vette of your dreams.
A red Corvette always makes us happy because that's the iconic
color, and this Sting Ray is one of the most iconic shapes in the
Corvette's nearly 65-year history. There is an exceptional gloss
and luster on the factory-correct Rally Red, which tells you it has
seen careful ownership and the right investments in maintaining a
high-quality C2. Complete and pristine chrome bumpers, and all the
correct badging only add to this car's award-worthy shine. And on a
car of this caliber, of course all the great period-correct
performance options are still featured today - from the bold side
pipe exhaust, to the cool redline tires that match the body. And
the element we love the most is the big stinger hood. Not only is
it a timeless sign of serious power underneath, but also the cool
white streak is a great match for the white folding roof - making
this Sting Ray striking with the top up or down.
Open the door, and it feels like 1967 all over again - after all,
there's even still the factory-style tag on the radio knob. There's
a sea of red on the carpets, vinyl bucket seats, and dash. It has
that fresh feeling of investment that looks great against the
matching exterior paint and really gives you pride of ownership.
Just about the only thing that breaks up this festival of scarlet
is the wood rimmed three-spoke steering wheel that is truly worthy
of a vintage sports car. The rest of the interior is
factory-correct, right down to the power steering and provisions
for factory air conditioning... even the clock is still ticking
away. It's easy to settle into this sports car with comfortable
bucket seats, a center console, and a full set of gauges that love
to dance while you row through the gears and let that big motor
growl.
There's definitely something magical about a 427 in a Corvette. So
you know it's truly special having the original numbers-matching
L68 motor still living under the hood and looking fantastic. The
big block is dressed properly with Chevy Orange on the block and
valve covers. This one is correct right down to the details like
the decals and the Frigidaire compressor. Plus, there's a nice bit
of flash with the correct ignition shield and chrome air cleaner
with 427 decals. And best of all, we all know that underneath that
triangle topper lives the ultra-desirable triple set of dual Holley
carburetors. Not only does it look great, but also you'll love
hitting the road in this big block classic, because it's all about
control. The original four-speed manual transmission allows you to
dial in the performance and roar of the sidepipes on a moment's
notice; the fully-independent suspension holds the road better than
some modern muscle machines; and the four-wheel disc brakes provide
superior stopping power.
One of only 2101 built with this L68, the rarity has been cherished
on this Sting Ray. That's why it comes with the right paperwork,
including owner's manual, title docs, maintenance receipts, and
thousands $$$$$ in restoration/build receipts. This is the rare,
high quality vintage car that you'll love to drive. So while it has
had the right investments to take home awards at the car show this
weekend, they'll first have to get you off the backroads long
enough to park it on the event lawns. This Corvette is the total
package, and so it's looking for a true collector. Is that you?
