1952 Jaguar XK120 LHD 3.4 Litre Fixed Head Coupe, Pastel Green
Metallic with Suede Green Leather Interior
When Jaguar stunned the world with its new XK120 in 1948 few would
have thought that the elegant styling of the original open two
seater, or roadster, could be improved on. That thinking was
challenged in 1951 when arguably the most beautiful model of Jaguar
ever produced was unveiled, the Fixed Head Coupe. Reminiscent of
the Bugatti Atlantic, the new coupe was based on the roadster but
incorporated a teardrop shaped roof that successfully joined the
front and rear design elements in one sublime flowing body. The
coupe retained the chassis and mechanicals of the roadster, with
some minor changes to accommodate the new body, and so the new
model combined the sporting pedigree of its predecessor with the
enhanced looks and luxury of the new design. That the coupe proved
to be strong success with the public is underscored by the
production numbers with over 2500 examples produced, the majority
in LHD.
The car offered here is an early matching numbers, matching
colours, U S Export example delivered new to California where it
was initially sold to an airline pilot who kept the car for nearly
sixty years until 2010.
This XK was placed into long term storage by its original owner in
1967 and finally restored in the USA by Jon Pollack who performed
an award-winning restoration on the car.
This lovely XK has had functional upgrades including 5-speed
transmission, lightened flywheel, front disc brakes, aluminium
radiator (painted black) with electric cooling fan, stainless steel
exhausts and wing mounted rear view mirrors. (Original 4-speed
transmission and front drum brakes are included with the car).
Restored to a very high standard, this XK went on to win Best
Jaguar at a recent Beverly Hills Concours d'Elegance.
Imported into the UK from California in 2014 (all European taxes
paid) when the car was sold to a major collector on whose behalf,
we at J D Classics, have stored and maintained the car ever
since.
Complete with Jaguar Heritage Certificate, owner's manual, tools
and air pump, this beautifully restored XK120 Fixed Head Coupe
presents an opportunity to own an iconic piece of Jaguar's early
Heritage which is sympathetically upgraded and presented in the
