Vehicle Description
We're pleased to offer this MG TD factory competition model. These
models are designated by a /C in the chassis number and had a
second set of shock absorbers all round (8 shocks total), larger
carburetors, higher compression, dual fuel pumps, and a higher
ratio rear axle, the latter of which is a plus for modern traffic.
This car's engine number matches the number on the ID plate so it's
also matching numbers. Most accounts indicate there were a total of
1710 /C models produced which makes them quite rare out of the
total TD production of over 29,000 cars. This car set for many
years and we've just completed going through all the brake
hydraulics, oil and filter change, anti-freeze change, checking
carburetors, replacing all the hoses, installing a new battery,
rear spring pads, and a few other minor things. It runs and drives
quite well with with good oil pressure, no smoke and in the normal
temperature range. It does have some of the typical oil dripping as
these cars don't have a modern type rear crankshaft seal. The body
is very solid and any exposed wood that we could see and touch was
all very solid. It has a good top that is well fitted. The leather
seats were professionally done to a high standard and the carpets
are all good as well. This car was restored some time ago and the
overall restoration is still holding up well save some paint flaws
here and there. The paint is still nice and shiny and the car looks
very good from 6 to 10 feet. However, up close there is some age
related checking starting to appear in places. There are also a few
little chips and scratches but nothing terribly bad. If you're
looking for a show quality car, this one will need paint. If you're
looking for a nice driver, then you may find the paint fine as is.
Pretty much all of the bright work is very nice and there's a set
of 5 Michelin radials. There's also a complete tool kit, jack, and
engine crank.
