TF 1500 The British are coming! Wow! Check out this beautifully
restored icon. Description TF 1500 Engine rebuilt 4,129 miles on
rebuild Full restoration Documents Numbers correct Strong running
car! This B ritish icon was born in 1954 and still has the same
engine and chassis, which were the 650th and 608th respectively,
built in the now infamous TF 1500 series. The engine had
approximately 50,000 miles on it before enduring a rebuild in 1976
by D&D Rebuilding Service Machine Shop in New Brighton, PA. The
engine number is XPEG 1151, and the car number is 7308. During the
1960s it was sold to a doctor who enjoyed driving the car as it was
meant to be driven. He later moved from the area and had it stored.
In a short time the car was sold and the new owner had it
repainted. He drove the car for a while but later disassembled it
and sold it to an enthusiast living in Pennsylvania. In the mid
1970s the new owner completed a frame up restoration bringing this
classic to its original condition. This time however, the color
went from its original British Racing Green to black fenders and
Mercedes Poppy Red body panels. The meticulous undertaking took two
and a half years. The car was sold again and the new owner drove it
sparingly. In the fall of 1989 with only 2,580 miles on a rebuilt
engine, the car was purchased by the latest owner. In November 1990
the car was taken to Boffo Motors in New Brighton, PA for
additional work on the engine. There were issues that had not been
addressed in the 1976 rebuild and by April 1991 all of them were
rectified. With the exception of hardened valve seats being added
due to the unavailability of leaded gas, the engine is now restored
to its original status .For the second time in the cars history a
restoration was needed and work began in November 2003. While at
Boffo Motors, the paint was completely stripped. It was discovered
that the metal doors, gas tank, and side door were inadequate and
the decision was made to have them replaced. A deep brilliant
exterior finish of MG red on the panels and glossy black fenders
replaced the old paint. A time period correct aftermarket radio
antenna was added for the Pioneer stereo sound. The old aluminum
spokes were removed but saved. New chromed Dayton wire wheels and
new tires were added which really stand out against the black
fenders and MG red. At the Motor Car Group, we're enthusiasts
first. We want you to enjoy your new car from the minute it's
delivered and the trailer door drops. Before a car leaves our shop,
it's gone through comprehensively, both visually and mechanically.
We do more than just kick the tires, though: We fill your tires
with nitrogen, road test (if the weather permits us here in
Cleveland!) and clean it inside and out. We buff the paint using a
three-step process immediately before it's taken away so that it
gleams when it arrives. Every car we sell, from Sunday drivers
through the rarest exotics, is meant to be driven--get out there!
