Very rare "Hurricane" Drophead Coupe. A British engineering group
formed in 1919 and was best known for production of luxury vehicles
and aircraft engines. Armstrong Witworth of Siddeley Deasy
manufacturer of highend motor cars; after the merge of these
companies the focus on quality continued with their motor car
production, aircraft engines, rocket and torpedo motors and
development of rail cars. Later company merged with Hawker Aviation
and Bristol Aero engines and continued auto production until August
of 1960. Later the company was absorbed into the Rolls Royce
conglomerate for aircraft technologies and business. It is said
they were intrigued by the Marmon car built in Indy and thoroughly
checked out the engineering of one of these cars. Provided engines
for WWII air planes for British. After the war ended, Armstrong
Siddeley introduced their first postwar models; the "Lancaster: 4
door Saloon and the "Hurricane" drophead Coupe. These models echoed
the names of aircraft produced by "Hawker Siddeley group" during
the war. This car is a true survivor, quality built car in the
United Kingdom very similar to the Jaguar Coupe. The car is all
original from the black body to the burgundy leather interior and
burgundy 3 position top. This post war model sports the 2 liter 6
cylinder engine with 4 speed transmission. It runs and drives with
newer Firestone whitewalls. Interior luxuriously built with walnut
dash and window door trim. The V radiator design believed inspired
by the great Marmon automobile of Indianapolis, Indiana. Truly a
rare find survivor. Probably you'll have the only one in the
country.
