Purchased in 2014, this beautiful Comet Caliente convertible came to us with the body work, paint, top and interior completed by the previous owner. Following is a partial list of work completed since then. Odometer reads 80,xxx miles and appears to be original mileage.
1. Engine - Complete engine rebuild with new pistons, rods, crankshaft, bearings, a mild performance camshaft, new lifters, pushrods, roller rockers and all new valves on hardened seats. New oil pump, fuel pump, water pump and electronic distributor. All castings are numbers-matching and date-matching.
2. Drive Train - Complete transmission rebuild with a mild shift kit. Complete rear-end rebuild with new bearings and seals. New brakes front and rear. New rear leaf springs and front-end/steering components as needed. New American Racing Torque-Thrust II wheels and BFG Radial T/A tires.
3. Heating/Cooling - New oversize aluminum radiator with electric fan and all new hoses and belts along with stainless steel overflow tank. New heater core and blower motor with new seals.
4. Interior/Accessories – All new instruments and sending units (except original speedometer). New dash overlay. Custom Grant steering wheel. New hidden stereo and speakers, plays AM/FM, Sirius, iPod, or USB sources. Fully insulated with sound-barrier and heat-barrier layers under the carpet.
This Comet runs and drives like a new car.
