Collector quality 1958 Chevrolet Corvette - This is my personal car so no extra fees etc. About to move and ready to get another classic to enjoy after owning this beautiful car for the last 9 years. I would rate this car a "B" now but line out everything you need to do to make this an "A" level collector car below with estimated prices. I have done my very best to truly represent this car in its present shape and rewrote the ad to answer the questions I have received so far. This 58 Vette has not been modified or souped up like a lot of others. The only non-original spec parts on the car is the radio and steering wheel (but have original that comes with the car). This car is truly special and I hate to sell it.
The following is as honest as I possibly can be about everything I can think of about the car!
EXTERIOR/BODY:
- Body off restoration 4 years ago - driven less than 700 miles since
- Never been wrecked - clean fiberglass body (see restoration pics on website)
- Over $30k spent in restoration
- Very nice rust free frame (see pics)
- Great lines for a 58 Vette
- Clear coat correct: Snowcrest White Paint (PPG) with CHARCOAL cove - rare combination
- There is a slight paint imperfection in the restoration where the Snowcrest went on lighter when we painted the soft top lid on the car. You can see it variation in the walk-around video.
- Overall, chrome and stainless steel look great. Surface rust on bottom of front license plate holder.
- BRAND NEW off-white spec'd soft top (no hard top with this vehicle)
- 95% tread correct white walls and ORIGINAL hubcaps
ENGINE:
- This 58 Vette starts up and drives well
- Strong 283/245 Horsepower, Edelbrock Four-Barrel Carb with Edelbrock intake
- 4 Speed MANUAL transmission - shifts great
- BRAND NEW water pump (Feb 2017)
- Standard exhaust that sounds great
INTERIOR:
- Black vinyl interior to spec
- Black carpet in excellent shape
- New trunk carpet and back liner.
- Unique original ignition and key
- AM/FM Cassette with original dash speaker only
- Speedometer, windshield wipers, all lights, voltage gauge, temp gauge, radio, blinkers, emergency brake, trunk lock & keys, fold down top, air vent - all work great
WHAT YOU GET WITH THE SALE:

FOR "A" RATING: To get this 58 Vette to an A rating and to a six figure value in five years, the suggested following needs to be addressed:
- Strong clutch but won't adjust and is engaging at the very top. I'm 6'2" so it is not easy to shift anymore. I am told that the clutch needs to be replaced sooner than later. With that said, I have been driving it like this for the last year and it has not gotten worse nor slips. Summit Racing has clutch kit for $160.00
- Gas guage does not work. The floater in the tank has been replaced (2010). I think it is the gauge itself that needs replacing. Ecklers has it for $80.99. You can get an entire new instrument cluster for $461.99 (which a lot of collectors do) All gauges in the car are original.
- Automatic/electric antenna (needs reinstalled) - have parts in trunk ready to go. Labor cost only.
- Replace heater fan blower motor - I don't drive this during the winter months so never needed the heater. It might just be the switch. 58 Corvette heater fan blower motor: $59.99 (Ecklers) or Heater/defroster switch with cable: $146.99 (Ecklers)
- This car currently has no A/C nor did it ever. I would install factor A/C from Ecklers or another 58 Vette parts specialist. Ecklers has the entire kit for $1,450.00
- Center glove box does not lock - would replace. Ecklers, $35.99
- Passenger door window sticks at 3/4 way up - will most likely have this fixed by the time it sells since we did already replaced the regulator gear of the manual window crank for this window. If not fixed, I will take off $100 at sale, New gear is $33.19
- Trunk springs need to be replaced: $35.19 for kit at Ecklers
- Replace current AM/FM cassette with Wonderbar original rebuilt or replica radio. They are not cheap: $599 for AM Wonderbar.
- Fix the paint variation with soft top lid to rest of car. This equates to sanding this piece down (easy to take off) and matching it with the rest of the car (PPG Snowcrest). I estimate labor and paint to cost $700.
- Fix the two small cracks in body: 1. on drivers side hood lip of car (barely noticable but needs to be addressed) and 2. the crack on drivers side door in frame (been there for years but needs to be addressed). Cracks are normal in fiberglass body Vettes but they do need to be professional addressed with fiberglass inserts underneath the frame. I estimate both could be done for less than $1,000.
TOTAL ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT NEEDED: $4,121 + ESTIMATED $2,000 IN LABOR = $6,121 * Again, this is ONLY if you want to get this car to an A rated car. It is beautiful and drives well as it is NOW!
