Vehicle Description
For sale in our Chicago showroom is this legendary 1990 Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1. Nicknamed "King of the Hill" during testing and
design, the C4 ZR1 was set to be the fastest production car brought
to market. With GM handing the engine design over to Lotus, and
manufacturing of that engine to Mercury Marine, the LT5 was born.
This all-aluminum dual-overhead-cam engine makes 375 horsepower in
stock form, around 160% that of a normal Corvette of the time, and
at roughly double the price of a standard '90 Corvette. A 6-speed
manual transmission transfers power to the independent rear
suspension, for a sporty and balanced drive. A second key is turned
in the dash like a nuclear missile control giving full engine
power, launching this red rocket into supercar territory. This
example has been very well maintained, and has even seen a few
upgrades over the years. The already capable braking system was
upgraded on all 4 corners with Wilwood vented and slotted rotors
and stainless steel brake lines. The front calipers were also
replaced with a set of Wilwood 6-piston calipers to really grind
this grand tourer to a stop. The engine has seen some attention as
well, in the way of a ported intake, a set of ceramic coated
headers, a lightweight flywheel, and a recent Fidanza clutch. The
engine has had a custom chip burned for the computer to take
advantage of the upgraded parts. This 1990 Corvette ZR1, #0056 of
6,939, is truly a fantastic machine. Options include:
