For many of us, the station wagon has always been a stylish choice
when selecting a style to add to your garage. The sport wagon of
today commands a great deal of respect amongst manufacturers and
these influences are seen in abundance on this 1955 Chevrolet 210
Restomod Wagon.
One of five station wagon choices offered by Chevrolet in 1955 the
210 Townsman was joined in the fleet by the 150 Handyman, 210
Handyman (two-door wagons), Bel Air Beauville four-door and the new
Nomad. At home, work or play; the 210 Townsman was advertised in
period as having "sports car looks and performance." The liftgate
has a wide opening that allows easy access to the plentiful cargo
area with room for six and luggage. It was proudly touted as a
great all-purpose car for year-round use.
Presented in fantastic two-tone colors featuring candy paint, and
obviously looking great throughout with its frame-off restoration,
this 1955 Chevy is a custom show car that has received a classy and
comfortable interior in which the seating has been reduced by one
with front bucket seats. The seats are also two-tone in black and
gray with the candy red tone used for the stitching. It's well
worth this seating sacrifice when you experience the blending of
period- and new-style. A center console, tilt steering column (with
billet-style adjustment lever and turn signal), Classic gauge
cluster, six-disc CD player with subwoofer and air conditioning
complete this sporty, yet luxurious confines.
Powered by a big-block 454-cid V-8 engine, it is joined with a 700
R4 automatic transmission to add to the driving pleasure. The
engine bay is nicely detailed and displays Edelbrock intake, valve
covers and air cleaner, plus an MSD ignition system. The rear end
is a nine-inch Ford unit with a 3.91:1 gear ratio. Four-wheel disc
brakes, a four-inch lowered suspension and adjustable shocks are
all welcome mechanical features. The custom five-spoke wheels and
low-profile tires will provide the ride you want. You can't help
but wanting to get in and drive this car as intended.
