*RARE 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION**
This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SL with 57k miles is an unicorn of the sorts because the 3.0L 24V DOHC inline-six is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There were less than 160 manual transmissions made and the doglegged format will require a brief adjustment in your shifting thought process. The transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch does not stick. The color is Nautical Blue Metallic on top of the bottom toned Andorbleau over a gray leather interior. Recent services include:
A new convertible motor was installed in 2010. And the top opens and closes properly and the headliner in very good condition. No tears in the ragtop or windows. Windows do not have any yellowing or opauque sections. A color matched hardtop is also included.
Infrared key works for passenger and trunk but driver's side door does not lock. Engine starts up easily on first crank, but after you drive it for a bit and park, it may take 2-3 cranks for engine to start up again (common issue with the R129). This only happens on occassion and sometimes the car will restart without any issues. The mechanic says it may be a fuel filter that needs changing. Car does have touched up rock chips and scratches. 1 minor dent that PDR may be able to remedy.
All electronics work as they should which include power windows, locks, mirrors, power seats, radio, cassette player, antenna does go up and recess into the fender, convertible top, and lights.
Car comes with:
These cars are very hard to come by especially one with low, documented miles like this. R129's in general are slowly creeping up on collector's radar and were made during the days when MB's were over engineered. Car is accident free and comes with a clean Carfax and will receive a Stage 3 detail prior to sale.
