Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible For Sale in Freeland, Washington
98249
This is a stunning, numbers-matching 1957 Bel Air Convertible.
Complete with its original Power Pack setup, and finished in
spectacular Onyx Black, with red and silver vinyl interior. There
are few more iconic collector cars than the '57 Chevy Convertible.
The 1957 Bel Air Convertible's escalating values is proof that even
with a mass-produced car, the rules of supply and demand
prevail.
In short, EVERYONE loves '57 Chevys.
The restoration is approximately 20 years old. The odometer shows
92,251 miles however, since the frame off restoration, there has
only been 2,092 miles put on this classic Bel Air. It has been
perfectly preserved in climate-controlled stasis, so it remains
fresh, crisp, and ready to show. Paint and bodywork are excellent.
This car is authentic in it's restoration and looks like it just
rolled off the showroom floor. It comes complete with fender
skirts. The chrome and stainless restoration are magnificent! From
the wide grille and rubber-tipped "Dagmars," to the bright side
panels that mark this as a Bel Air model, to the gold anodized V
emblems front and rear that symbolize a V8 engine under the hood,
all the little details are beautifully restored.
Both front and rear bench seats use correct patterns and materials,
including the tufted buttons on the seat backs, and the door panels
are like new. The dash is full of restored gauges, and the
color-matched steering wheel shows no cracks or signs of wear. An
original AM radio still lives in the dash, and right underneath is
a glove box full of original owner's manuals. The seller has also
acquired a large 1957 Shop Manual that will go with the car.
Correct carpets are protected by a set of matching floor mats,
while overhead there's a neatly fitted power convertible top. The
trunk is correctly restored with a rubber mat, with the spare
mounted in the trunk. A 283 Power Pack V8 lives under the hood, and
uses a 4-barrel carb and dual exhaust to deliver 220 horsepower.
Performance is lively with great V8 sounds and a healthy burble
from the dual tailpipes that exit under the rear bumper.
Coated in traditional Chevy Orange, the engine is highly correct,
right down to the original generator with integral power steering
pump on its back. Underneath, the chassis is clean and ready to
show, with a 2-speed Power Glide driving the original rear end. Red
oxide primer on the floors is how they were built originally, and
it rolls on a set of 7.50-14 wide whites with spinner hubcaps.
Well-restored '57 Chevy's seem recession-proof, with prices that
remain rock-solid. This one could be considered a blue-chip
investment, and its current condition is a testament to the quality
of the restoration.
Seller is the current owner since 2002. It has been mostly for
parades and auto shows. The previous owner, after restoration,
displayed in auto shows only. This car won a National Silver Award
at Western National for Excellence July 23, 1993. Out of 1000
points possible, this car had 947 points, almost a Gold Award.
