This 1939 Buick Special Series 40 Business Coupe has recently undergone a “frame-on” restoration during which it was repainted in its original color, black, and the interior was redone in light gray fabric along with a new gray velour headliner and sunvisors. During the restoration, in addition to the new paint and interior, the trim on the Special was rechromed and it received all new safety glass, weatherstripping, and window seals. The interior of the Special shows very well and the seats are plush and comfortable, and although it has been redone, the interior still retains quite a bit of originality, such as its original Sonomatic radio, firewall cover, glovebox, and steering wheel and horn button, both of which are in excellent shape. Other interior features include the original under-dash heater, Buick sill plates, and clock mounted on the glovebox door. Under the hood of the Special lives a 248 cubic inch Dynaflash inline eight cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed “three-on-the-tree” manual transmission and power is put to the ground through a set of Firestone Deluxe Champion 7.00-15 wide whitewall tires mounted on stock wheels with original Buick hubcaps. Other exterior features include original Buick grille, hood, and trunk badges and the undercarriage is nice and clean. Overall this 1939 Buick Business Coupe shows well and runs even better and is a great example of a pre-war Buick automobile.
