truly a time capsule with its original condition! Just gorgeous!
After World War II, most manufacturers fulfilled the auto hungry
public's desire for new automobiles with continuations of the
pre-war body designs. It was far too expensive to retool the
equipment, so it would be a couple of years for most companies to
introduce new models. Packard introduced a new smoother design, and
more rounded body in 1946, and streamlined it even further with a
completely fender-less look by 1948, referred to as the 22nd
Series. Sales were swift for Packard throughout the model lines for
post-war buyers, but some examples were far rarer than others. One
of those models was the Series 2271- a Super Deluxe Eight Sedan at
an original cost of $3,850. With a 141" wheelbase, elegantly
trimmed inside, larger 327ci engine with oil-bath air cleaner, and
seating for seven passengers! It is reported that only 865 units
were ever produced! We are very excited to offer this incredibly
solid, and largely original, 1948 Packard Super Eight Deluxe
7-passenger Sedan! Finished in gorgeous Agate Blue Metallic over
all original Blue Cloth interior, it remains one of the most
original examples we have ever seen! Powered by its original,
numbers correct 327ci Straight 8 producing 145 horsepower mated to
a 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission, it continues to start
without hesitation, and operate as Packard intended! Features
include rear under seat heaters, foldable jump seats, rear foot
rest, rear assist handles and ropes, illuminated entry, map lights,
front & rear vent windows, faux wood dash & window garnish
moldings, turn signals, Glare-proof rearview mirror, and more!
Factory options include AM radio with roof-mounted antenna, license
frames, front & rear Master Bumper Guards with protection rails,
rear fender shrouds, white sidewall tires, wheel trim rings,
Cormorant hood ornament, passenger "Packard" vanity mirror, exhaust
turndown tip, gas door paint protector, and outside rearview
mirror! Showing only 72,470 miles, and considering the visible
wear, we feel this is completely accurate! The body and chassis
remain remarkable solid and rust free. It has been repainted its
original color in modern base/clear fashion with professional
results. It continues to remain gorgeous and show worthy! The
exterior chrome is also original continuing to provide much shine
and luster having never been re-chromed. Inside, one would marvel
at the level of care to maintain the original upholstery materials,
wood-painted trim pieces, undamaged headliner, perfect steering
wheel, and remarkable chrome appointments! It will come with a
unique amount of driver door service stickers dating back to 1986
when it had just 34,847 miles. All main features continue to
operate as they should which include courtesy lights, map lights,
factory AM radio, rear heaters, dash instrumentation (with
exception to the clock), exterior lights, turn signals, horn, etc.
Also included will be an operating manual & service manual,
complete spare tire & changing tools, and a clear title. This
beautiful vehicle represents a unique opportunity to a Packard
collector or enthusiast. Please feel free to call with questions or
schedule a chance to review in person!
