1986 Corvette Pace Car Edition For Sale - NCRS Top Flight, Only
9,501 Miles LMC is proud to offer for sale this 1986 Corvette
Convertible For so many decades, the Corvette has either been the
dream to own' someday or been given that special place in the
garage of a Corvette enthusiast. Crafted from a precise blend of
power, performance, style and comfort, Corvette's success has been
based on a willingness to embrace advancing technology while
remaining true to its heritage. This is the GM philosophy that
ensures continued success with each generation of the iconic
Corvette. The Chevrolet Corvette's C4 generation for the 1984
through 1996 model years was marked by the return of the
Convertible that had been absent from the Corvette lineup since
1975. Since the Corvette was named as the Pace Car for the
Indianapolis 500 all 7,315 of the 86 Convertibles had "Indy 500
Pace Car" console plaque identification. More importantly these
Corvettes had evolved into a sleek and modern design. In the design
there was a change from the fiberglass panels with the rear bumpers
and panels now made from sheet molding plastic compound. The C4
Coupe was also the first general production Corvette to have a
glass hatchback for improved storage access. The Corvette C4 came
standard with an electronic dashboard with a digital liquid crystal
display dash having graphics for important engine functions. Since
emissions regulations were still changing and electronic engine
management was in its infancy, horsepower was, compared to earlier
generations, low. Therefore, the primary design emphasis was on
handling and braking, with all-independent suspension and all new
brakes with aluminum calipers. The front suspension saw the C3's
coil springs replaced by a transverse fiberglass mono-leaf spring,
which was only 1/3 of the weight of the coil springs while also
introducing an anti-roll bar-like effect on the front. Coupe had
the Targa Top, instead of T-tops, which bolted into place and
becoming a structural component rather than simply latching on like
T-tops. 1986 also saw the introduction of the Pass Key I passive
anti-theft system, wherein each key contained a special pellet that
could be detected and identified by the car's computer system by
detecting electrical resistance. Other changes for the 1986 model
were a high-mounted brake light, an assortment of new body colors,
a slightly thicker-rimmed steering wheel, a newly angled instrument
cluster to reduce windshield glare, Bosch ABS anti-lock brakes and
with the use of aluminum cylinder heads there was an improvement in
overall handling, acceleration and fuel economy. This 1986 Pace Car
Edition Corvette Convertible was built at Bowling Green KY Assembly
Plant and originally delivered to the Glen Campbell Chevrolet
dealership in Williamsville NY. The Corvette is stunning in the
Code 74U Dark Red Metallic with the 19T Black Convertible Top.
Previous owners have passed along the Owner's Manual, Window
Sticker, work record book and the original Pace Car Decals. The Red
paint is in wonderful condition with excellent depth and clarity in
part due to the low mileage and more importantly from the care of
the owners. The work record book reveals the great number of
careful waxing this Corvette was privileged to receive as the car
has been treated to a pampered life. Inside, enjoy the comfort of
the Graphite Leather wrap around Buckets that allows you to survey
the unique Digital Driver Information System displaying the
colorful graphics of the Speedo and Tach movements. The excellent
interior condition is attributed to the low use. The exceptionally
clean engine bay displays the L98 5.7L source of the power pulse
which is connected to the Code MM4 "4+3" Transmission - 4-Speed
Manual coupled to an Automatic Overdrive on the top three gears.
The brushed Aluminum Wheels with the B/W Goodyear Eagles provide
asphalt gripping fun. The window sticker confirms the basic
comforts like Tilt-Telescopic Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel and
A/C. As well, by Code, the optional features such as AG9 Six-Way
Power Seat, AQ9 Graphite Leather Sport Bucket Seats, AU3 Power Door
Locks, K34 Speed Control and UU8 Delco/Bose System with AM/FM and
12-disc CD. Finally the undercarriage truly reflects the meticulous
care this Corvette has been given by previous owners, also noted in
their record book, as it is still clean and beautifully detailed.
This 1986 Pace Car Edition Corvette Convertible is a gorgeous
example that is basically in new condition having only registered
9,501 miles. Additional Details: 1986 CHEVROLET CORVETTE -
