Vehicle Description
1966 Shelby GT350
VIN: SFM 6S384
This GT350 was originally invoiced to Pueblo Ford of Tucson,
Arizona on 1/12/66 for $3,705.75. It was ordered in Wimbledon White
with optional Le Mans stripes and an automatic transmission. It sat
on their lot for almost a year before it was sold to Walter Zimmer
of Tucson, Arizona on 2/22/1967. Pueblo Ford painted the car green
and had aluminum 10-spoke wheels fitted before delivery, believed
to be at the request of Zimmer. According to the Shelby warranty
records Zimmer racked up 2606 miles by 5/16/67.
Zimmer would go on to autocross the car when he was stationed in
Charleston, SC. The local dealer installed a top-loader manual
transmission to help with his autocrossing efforts. In 1973 the
Shelby would follow Zimmer to Richmond, New South Wales, Australia
where it was fitted with a large bumper sticker - Caution Left Hand
Drive.
Bill Shannon of Meridian, Idaho would purchase 6S384 in March of
1990. Eleven years later, in September of 2001 the car would move
on to Thom Canon of Medford, Oregon, who would repaint the car in
its original Wimbledon White with blue Le Mans stripes. Canon
wouldn't have the car long as he would sell it to Robert Hartman of
Genoa, Nevada in August of 2002 who would install a Detroit locker
differential. Stu Hanssen of Santa Ynez, California became the next
owner in May of 2009.
Canepa would acquire the car from Hanssen in 2014, and set about
dialing in the Shelby with new front brakes, wheel bearings, BF
Goodrich TA tires, fuel pump, shifter assembly rebuild, u-joints
and balancing the driveshaft. It took less than a month to find a
new owner, who would keep the car for the past 3 years, covering
only 740 miles. Now back at Canepa the GT350 has been thoroughly
mechanically inspected and concours detailed, ready for the next
enthusiast to enjoy this legendary pony car.
The Shelby also comes with a correct C4 automatic transmission, and
an original Ford 9 inch 3.50 open differential as spares.
