This was the first year for this body style. These trucks are similar all the way to 1955.
This particular truck came from California. It is rust-free and very nice. You will find the fenders, wheel -well openings and cab are very nice. The mileage is said to be actual at 19,xxx miles. We have no proof, but when you look things over, you will likely agree that this is possible.
When the truck was brought to Illinois, the owner decided to make some improvements. He has the engine rebuilt, a new radiator installed, replaced the clutch, redid the brakes, replaced the battery, converted it to 12 volt, installed new radials on new wheels, installed a new gas tank and new bed wood. much of this was done in 2015 and 2016. We have some of the receipts.
The mechanical condition is excellent. It starts, idles, runs, drives and stops as it should. The radial tires enhance both ride and handling. The valve seats are now hardened to allow for use of unleaded fuel.
The twelve volt conversion left the horn, fuel gauge and turn signals non functional. He was going to convert the wipers to electric but didn’t finish the job. The components are present. This truck was sold without a heater, but a brand new heater assembly is in the box.
The interior, while sparton, is very nice. The floor was covered with carpet and mats, the seat is very nice and likely original. There is no headliner visors or radio. I don’t believe there ever was.
The stainless is superb. The pot metal is very good. There is very minimal imperfection in the glass. The cowl vent operates. Some weather stripping is missing.
The paint is a stain black. I believe the truck was always black. The drivers door was repainted due to a dent. It has a brighter shine. There is no surface rust, evidence of body filler or rust bubbles.
This truck was obviously given great care. It looks like it was always garage kept. If you painted it the color of your liking, it would be show worthy.
These olds trucks are very much in demand. You have a very solid platform and it is ready to enjoy. Just hop in and start driving.
