The Boys (Engineers) at Pontiac Motor Division decided to utilize Pontiacs "Big Block" 389 cubic Inch Engine and install
one in a Tempest in late 1963 and the "Muscle Car" Era was born; This Classic Catalina is powered by the Legendary '421'
Cu. In. Big Block; The Casting is a 1966 Block, Bored .052" over w/ 428 Pistons now Approx. 433 Cubic Inches; Equipped with Edelbrock Aluminum 'D' Port Heads and 72 cc; Competition Cams Hyd. Camshaft and Lifters; Edelbrock Aluminum Performer RPM Intake Manifold with Holley 750 CFM 4 Barrel Carb; Edelbrock Aluminum Water Pump; Custom Built Aluminum Radiator by Howe w/ Electric Fan; New MSD Ignition Sends the Spark to This Monster of an Engine ; It was Professionally Built by a well regarded GM Engineer in Saginaw, Michigan and on Break-In Pulls on his Dyno with mufflers it pumped out 488 Ft. Lbs. at 3300 RPM and produced 392 HP at 4700 RPM; It runs awesome and truly gives this Classic Catalina the Muscle that gave these early '60's Pontiacs a revered reputation on both the streets and the dragstrips back in the "Day";
Our Catalina is in Excellent Condition, with an all original body and interior; the Dash Board and Steering Wheel are gorgeous and also in Perfect Condition; The 421 Catalina has the Original Pontiac 8 Lug Wheels shod with Brand New Cooper Radials; The Underside has been extensively wire brushed, sanded and Primed and Coated with a special Sikkens Chassis Treatment. it looks awesome! The Fuel Tank has been hot tanked and dipped and coated mounted with new straps;
All the brakes are New, incl. the Wheel cylinders, all the Hard Lines and the Soft Lines have been replaced with New Parts
The shocks are New KYB's and the Coil Springs have been upgraded with Heavy Duty Station Wagon Springs and we Installed a Rear Anti Sway Bar to further stabilize our Catalina's Smooth Ride. When we had the Engine out we had the Firewall Re-finished in body color and the Inner Fenders blasted and coated with a Sikkens Matte Black Finish.
This is an Awesome Car and Runs and Drives Better than when New. Certainly with much more improved Performance!
