Launched at the 2010 Paris Motor Show the Ferrari SA Aperta is
effectively an open-top 599 GTO supercar. Just 80 cars were built
world-wide with just 8 RHD cars coming to the United Kingdom.
The SA name represents design firm Pininfarina - whose 80th
birthday this car celebrates. The father and son team of Sergio and
Andrea's initials are used. Aperta translates as Italian for
�opened'.
The Aperta boasts the 599's usual front-engine/rear wheel drive
layout, with the uprated GTO engine, a 6-litre V12 with 661bhp and
457lb ft of torque and a 0-62 mph time of just 3.6 seconds. The
Aperta has a lowered ride height of 10mm over the standard 599, a
thicker rear anti-roll bar and recalibrated magnetic dampers. A
reinforced body shell makes up for the loss in stiffness due to the
lack of roof structure.
Recently acquired by JD Classics directly from its one and only
owner, this extremely rare UK supplied RHD Aperta has covered just
82 miles from new. The Aperta has been fully serviced in accordance
with the annual maintenance schedule a total of 4 times at the
supplying dealer.
Letters on file from Ferrari include a personal wish to
congratulate the new owner from then Ferrari Chairman Luca di
Montezemolo. The supplying Ferrari dealer also writes to confirm
this SA Aperta as the last car to be registered and delivered.
Each SA Aperta was to be �absolutely unique' Ferrari said when the
car was launched and were available with an abundance of colour and
trim combinations inside and out.
This car was ordered in 'Extracampionario' non-standard Azzuro
metallic with Rosso hide trim piped white. Factory options
included, Yellow brake calipers, carbon fibre dash inserts, Azzuro
painted dash insert, carbon fibre driver zone with LED steering
wheel, carbon fibre central tunnel, Giallo instruments, extremely
rare carbon fibre solid removable roof panel, carbon fibre headlamp
buckets, seat belts in matching Rosso, silver dedication plate,
upper door and pocket hide trim, I Pod installation, Navtrak,
parking sensors, 20 inch chrome shadow wheel rims, fully adjustable
electric Recaro seats and anti stone chipping protection film that
remains unfitted in its original delivery cylinder.
Complete with Ferrari red book Classiche certification, all tools,
Aperta book pack including dealer stamped service record and
Ferrari trickle charger. A highly collectable and truly unique high
