For Sale: 1951 Mercury Custom in Arlington, Texas

Vehicle Description

1951 Mercury Custom

Old school lead sled style with some modern upgrades make this Mercury one cool classic. The only thing the car is currently lacking is the upholstery work so take advantage of this deal while you can. If we decide to finish out the interior the price will only go up. All of the chrome and trim pieces have been removed except for the bumpers which have a nice shine. The original grill was removed and a 54 Pontiac grill added for a different look. The only other chrome on the car is the side mirrors and spotlights. Other customizations include the chopped top, rounded hood corners, rounded door corners, custom Cadillac tail lights, and the frenched head lights. All of the body work has been well done and suits the car well. For that extra lead sled touch Mercury fender skirts were added in the back. The car is painted in primer with custom graphics done by a 60s/70s famous funny car artist Bob Noland out of Ohio. The Red striping looks great as does the other graphics. The car has a great stance and with the 4 wheel air ride the stance is entirely adjustable. It looks great sitting low as the 57 Caddilac hubcaps tuck under the fenders.

The car is powered by a 350 Chevy motor that runs well. It is mated to a 700R automatic transmission which smoothly sends power back to the 9 inch rear end. A new radiator was just added to the car to eliminate any heating issues. Power steering, power brakes and a Vintage Ac/Heat system has been added so driving it is very comfortable. Other upgrades include the 4 wheel disk brakes and 68 Camaro sub frame.

The interior of the car is the only thing that has been left unfinished but it is strictly the upholstery work. The dash is all done with aftermarket knobs for the lights, in dash AC vents and the Billet Vintage AC controls. A tilt steering column sits in front of the driver and is topped with an aftermarket steering wheel. A custom center console has been made which houses the shifter, additional AC vents and has a space cut for a stereo. The Bench seats are currently covered in Black.

The car is easily driven as is but 1 trip to an interior shop is all it needs to be fully finished out. Take advantage of all the hard work so far and make it yours with a new interior!
