For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS in ROWLETT, Texas

Vehicle Description

Ready for the Power Tour? Your answer just might be this drop dead gorgeous 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS split bumper Restomod. Finished in stunning Mulsanne Blue metallic with black Z/28 stripes and full custom leather interior, this first year Gen 2 Camaro is more than all show with a host of modifications and upgrades that start with a Chevrolet Performance ZZ 502 Deluxe crate motor.

Not familiar with Chevrolet Performance crate motors? Well this isn't just any swap, this is a GM Factory built 4-bolt main cast iron block with all forged rotating assemblies (steel crank and rods, aluminum pistons), aluminum oval port high flow heads, aluminum intake topped off with a Holley 870cfm four barrel carburetor and K and N breather. Ignition comes from a full MSD HEI Blaster kit including distributor, coil, wires and digital control box. Aluminum water pump, high capacity aluminum radiator with dual electric puller fans. Canton Racing Products Big Block Street T Pan. The whole assembly is externally balanced. Thrush Turbo mufflers fed through 2.5" stainless steel H-pipes out back. This 502 cubic inch beast is rated at 508 horsepower and 580 foot pounds of torque with a compression ratio of 9.6:1.

All that power is delivered to the ground through a 373 10 bolt Limited Slip Differential rear end via a heavy duty Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a very slick and smooth shifting "his and her" Hurst shifter borrowed from an Olds 442. The twin gate Hurst shifter has a full automatic and semi manual ratchet mode console shifter for spirited driving.

This car rolls down the road like a modern car on Classic Performance Products upper and lower tubular control arms, QA1 fully adjustable aluminum coilovers and a beefy 1.25" sway bar in the front. All welded subframe connectors. custom fabricated shackles, tuned rear leafs supported by gas charged Bilstein shocks and a 1" sway bar keep the wheels on the ground at launch without sacrificing the ride. Willwood Superlite 14" front, 13" rear power disk brake conversion will haul this thing down in a hurry without drama or fade. Set up with a level stance and clad with fresh Nitto NT555R radials on 18" staggered Foose classic five spokes this is a seriously fine driving Camaro.

Almost as important as how a power tour car performs is how comfortable the interior is. This car meets that standard with power seats modified from a later model Camaro, power windows and tilt wheel. Leather wrapped dash, door panels and both A and C pillars. The headliner features a multifunction dome light and the dash has been fully customized with electronic (analog) gauges, vintage air and a kick ass stereo.

This car starts right up, steers, stops and shifts flawlessly. Under heavy foot it will push you back in the seat and make lust worthy muscle car sounds. If you must, it will shred tires and scratch through all three gears. It's reasonably quiet and compliant cruising down the interstate at 70 mph. This is a classic car that can be driven daily.

All told there is close to $100,000 invested in this build, validated by Hagerty's agreed value assessment of $94,000. But we all know how that works out for the guy that decides its time to sell his dream build; his loss is your gain. For the price of this car you can buy a new Camaro ZL1 or Z/28 and watch it depreciate for the next 20 years or you could buy this iconic split bumper Camaro, take care of it and never lose money.
