For Sale: 1963 Cadillac DeVille in Houston, Texas

Vehicle Description

This 1963 Cadillac DeVille Convertible for sale in our Houston showroom has quite a story. This flamed-out, leopard-printed boulevard battleship was once featured in Hot Rod Magazine. Originally, it was built as a rolling testament to Kenwood's mobile audio prowess, for which it debuted at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Its head unit controls four mono amps, and one stereo amp; which in turn drive eight 10" subwoofers and a set of massive front speakers in the footwells. But this car is not just about achieving audiotainment nirvana...Powered by a Quad Cam 32V Cadillac Northstar V8 bolted up to a 700-R4 4speed overdrive automatic transmission, it's definitely a capable boulevard and highway cruiser. To give it the slammed look that it has, it's fitted with a Chubby Chassis Mustang II-type suspension that's raised and lowered with a Firestone airbag system. Since the frame sits only 1/8" off the ground when the Cad is at rest (thanks to the frame ahead of the firewall being Z'ed for the big slam), moving the engine higher into the bay meant that the stock oil pan and oiling system could be retained. Taller-than-normal mounts were fabricated to achieve the elevation; that move also meant that the driveshaft tunnel had to be raised 5 inches at the firewall, sloping down to 1 inch higher back near the rear of the passenger compartment. Additionally, that fresh front crossmember was notched 1 inch and re-boxed to move the engine forward to solve a variety of clearance issues. The alternator was moved, the A/C compressor yanked, and the serpentine belt tensioner was relocated as well. All of the wiring was neatly tucked under the intake. Headers were custom-bent to clear everything. Radi's Custom Upholstery of Westminster, CA, re-stuffed the interior, including the leopard-skin piping to complement the flames. Twins Custom Concepts installed the Mustang II pedals, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Colorado Custom Fire steering wheel that complements the rims.
