Vehicle Description
Gr Auto Gallery is pleased to present this unique piece of British
elegance, this highly original 1935 Rolls Royce 20 / 25 Limousine.
The Coachwork was performed by Windovers, who dates back to year
1600 in their design and production of fine coaches for British
Royalty. The 20 / 25 featured an all aluminum body, a very reliable
inline 6 cylinder engine, 4 speed manual transmission with 3 to 4th
gear synchromeshed transmission and rear wheel drive. The 20/25's
reliability and versatility made the car extremely popular, and the
20/25 was the most successful selling inter-war Rolls Royce. As a
testament to their reliability, longevity and collector appeal,
there 2343 a total of 3827 Rolls Royce 20 / 25's built in various
configurations between 1929 and 1936 of which over 70% are still on
the road today.
The 1935 Rolls Royce 20/25 Limousine offered here is a stately
vehicle featuring all the classic features of Rolls Royce: the
stand up grill, the "Spirit of Ecstasy" hood ornament, large
external headlights, horns, 3rd light, wire wheels, side mount
spare etc. Mechanically the car features an in-line 6-cylinder
engine, 12 volt magneto ignition, the famous Rolls Royce radiator
with triangular top with vertical louvers that can be adjusted to
control engine cooling, Semi-elliptic leaf spring front and rear
Hydraulic dampers, 4 Wheel Drum brakes with mechanical servo motor
driven from the gearbox, "One-Shot" Bijur centralized chassis
lubrication system, etc. Top speed for the 20/25 in its sparsest
model was 76 MPH, this could vary on size and coachwork. This Rolls
Royce 20/25 Limo remains unrestored and highly original. The
exterior paint shows some age and Patina, but is very acceptable
for driver use. The interior appears largely original, the
passenger coach has been upholstered in Leopard print and the color
scheme is to mimic the Rolls Royce use in the Classic James Bond
film, Goldfinger. Mechanically, the car runs and drives like a
dream.
This Rolls Royce 20/25 offers the best of both worlds. A pre WWII
classic that is very usable, unique and exhibits class. Keep, drive
and have fun the way it is, or restore to its original glory.
