Originally sold to music mogul Creed Taylor. This car remainedwith its first owner until 1980 it was then sold to a Mercedescollector in Connecticut and put into storage for 26 years until purchased byits last owner in 2005. All ownership history is known. The mileage is 50000from new the car's last owner is a big Mercedes enthusiast. The carunderwent a comprehensive restoration with an eye towards Cosmetic originalityand full mechanical restoration. All equipment is working and the carcomes with a variety of extras including original book set original hydraulicsystem service kit 600-specific tool set suspension emergency block set shotglasses and thermos. We have receipts totaling more than $91000 from StarMotors in Endicott New York.�Star is universally accepted the United States experts onthese special cars. The suspension and air conditioning systems are complex and both were comprehensively rebuilt. A fileof records is included showing the comprehensive work performed by Star Motors. The work included complete brakesystem rebuild (including calipers) rebuilt transmission comprehensive A/Cservice and repair including rotary compressor hoses and receiver-dryer newwater pump new alternator new fluid coupler and suspension componentsincluding wheel bearings tie rods control arm bushes and ball joints. The hydraulicsystem was also rebuilt including rebuilt hydraulic pump and accumulatorrebuilt trunk actuator and switches in all four doors. The engine was also removedthe top end rebuilt and resealed as required including rear main seal and frontand rear crank seals. The owner has continued to maintain the car to the samehigh standard with new chrome and new tires. It was frequently shipped back toStar Motors for routine maintenance or anything it�needed. �The paint on this car is partiallyoriginal �metering indicates that the trunk roof hood and rear fendersstill have their original paint.�Overall the impression is extremely strong with a highlevel of gloss and great presentation overall with somecrazing and a few light scratches. The body is extremely straight and solidand the chrome is excellent. The glass and lights are excellent and the car hasAmerican headlamps. The interior was left as original as possible and remainsin wonderful condition with a lovely Patina. The wood around the windows andparts of the dash was replaced great effort was put into keeping as muchoriginality as possible. The carpets are also in very nice shape and look nearnew. The headlineris excellent as are the instruments and switches of which there are many thatoperate the various accessories such as the power operated front and rear seatswindows and suspension. All of these items are hydraulic and operate rapidlyand silently in a way that is impressive even today; this must have beenmagical fifty years ago.�Even the cowl vent is hydraulically operated by a switch onthe dashboard. The original stereo unit is in place both front and rear andworks as it should. The trunk is in very good condition. The hydraulic openingand closing systems work perfectly. The hydraulic service kit is still presentin its original case and spare lives in its own compartment. The spare tire isoriginal and the general condition is excellent. The engine compartment isfully restored and looks new. Correct Mercedes hoses and OEM clamps and fixingswere used throughout. Likewise the underside of the car is in near newcondition with all suspension and exhaust hardware replaced or restore. Greatattention to detail was lavished upon the car; even the wheel weights are theproper Mercedes factory items! The car's road performance also reflects theconsiderable expense lavished on its mechanical systems. It is extremely solidthroughout.�The major mechanical systems work as they should from thebrakes and suspension to the engine and gearbox. The quality of the ride isfantastic and oozes quality and luxury. The 600's reputation is well deservedin its time the car was technically awe-inspiring high-performing andstately like very few other cars. Produced in limited numbers even fewerexamples survive as this one has complete with original books tools andpartially original paint.
