This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Bracket car is for sale in our
Louisville Kentucky Showroom. Bracket racing is a form of drag
racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of
the two cars over a standard distance of drag racing. This Camaro
has been set-up specifically for the 1/8 mile drag strips in the
local area. The effect of the bracket racing rules is to place a
premium on consistency of performance of the driver and car rather
than on raw speed, which in turn makes victory much less dependent
on large infusions of money, and more dependent on mechanical and
driving skill, such as reaction times, shifting abilities, and
ability to control the car. Therefore, bracket racing is popular
with casual weekend racers. Some will even drive their vehicles to
the track, race them, and then simply drive them home. While this
Camaro could be driven on the street, it is not recommended.
However if you are looking to get into a nice clean ready to run
bracket car, that is both reliable and competitive, then this car
is a great start! The engine is a 400 V8 with machine work
performed by Kenny Grimes Racing & Performance. The same goes for
the transmission. It is a Powerglide Trans and converter with a
deep pan that has been built by Kenny Grimes Racing & Performance.
The rear end is a GM 12 bolt that has been narrowed and filled with
5.57 gears! The drive train has less than 100 1/8 mile passes on
it, so it is still very fresh and ready to go. Inside, you will
find that this Camaro is all business. You will notice an 8 point
racing cage from Jegs. The cage is needed because this bracket car
will consistently run between 6.20 to 6.25 seconds, depending upon
the track and conditions. A Painless Wiring toggle switch panel
takes care of anything that is electrically powered. Weight savings
consist of fiberglass front end with a fiberglass lift off hood.
Actually the whole fiberglass can be removed for easy access to
work on the engine when necessary. Not only is this 1979 Chevrolet
Camaro Bracket car fast, but it looks good doing it. This 1979
Chevrolet Camaro Bracket car includes; One Racing Seat with padded
cover, 5 point Jegs Racing harness (Seat belts) and Aluminum Alloy
wheels with racing tires. This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Bracket car
