This simply stunning one off 1974 Norton Commando 850 is available
for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Norton motorcycles were a
small regional manufacturer of bikes until WW2 came about. There
nearly 100000 units manufactured put them on the world stage. With
G.I.'s coming home and needing something to get there adrenaline
pumping again motorcycles sales would increase dramatically. Many
of these remembered the neat smaller bikes that there English
counterparts had and soon Norton's were all the rave. This 74 was
built with a lot of those classic custom touches incorporated in
the build giving this caf racer a one of a kind look. The up and
coming one off shop 138 cycle fabrication of Lebanon OH were the
ones to create such a wicked sleek machine. Starting with just a
frame the tedious task of hand building and fabbing the tank,
fenders, oil tank, so on and so forth would put the builders'
skills to the ultimate test. With the basic shape of the tank put
together the rear fender would slowly take form following the same
basic design as the front of the tank. The brake light was frenched
in keeping the smooth lines with the oil tank being the last piece
of the puzzle. The paintwork would be the next step and would
really take the bike to the next level. Finished off in a white
that ahs almost a light pearl to it for the base then topped off
with a blood red done the middle it really is one of the best
finishes I have seen. Splitting up the two is a band that looks as
if was painted a light orange copper color with gold leaf then laid
on and pulled off giving it an almost crackled look. The Norton
name on the tank was done with the same technique and then
pinstriped around it making it really pop. With the project
completed the guys took a step back and realized they had made the
coolest thing to cross the pond since the BEATLES. Ofcourse there
is only this one and with the popularity of Norton's skyrocketing I
can't imagine it lasting too long. Options on this 1974 Norton
Commando include a hand tooled leather seat, Big cross drilled
rotors, Spoke wheels with radial tires. To view this 1974 Norton
