Vehicle Description
Two seats, a rumbling V8, fully independent suspension with 4-wheel
discs, and a swoopy body that still makes kids stop in their tracks
when you drive by, all for the price of a used Honda. This 1974
Corvette gets everything right, from the fresh paint to the long
list of options to a ton of recent work.
Bright red always looks good, but on a C3 Corvette, it has, well, a
classic look stretching all the way back to the earliest days of
Corvette performance. The '70s were a wild, funky time and our
taste in fashion was represented best on the street by the
Corvette. Always an A-lister, this particular car shows us why they
remain popular today, and while it was originally code 14L Silver
Mist, nobody's going to argue about the color change after they get
a look at this car. The 'glass is in great shape with no stress
cracks in any of the usual locations, and with good shut lines,
crisp details, and better-than-new finish work, this coupe makes
for an excellent initial entry into the Corvette hobby or the
finishing piece of a collection. Note how well the nose and end
caps fit, the total absence of scuffs or damage on the chin and
rockers, and the blacked-out rocker trim makes it look lean. A
matching black stinger down the center of the hood looks better
here than on many other cars and the overall look is extremely
impressive.
A code 404 black leather interior is how this one was delivered, so
that's what's in it today, and it nails the swinging '70s perfectly
yet looks great today. The seats remain in excellent condition,
having been re-upholstered recently, along with new door panels,
carpets, and weather seals. Wood appliques warm up the
monochromatic interior, and you'll be pleased to find options like
A/C (not functional but all the parts are included), power steering
and brakes, an automatic transmission, and an AM/FM/cassette
stereo. The gauges show bright, clear markings, and there's an
auxiliary oil pressure gauge tucked under the dash over on the
passenger's side to monitor the vitals a little more closely. Don't
worry about pedigrees, just pull the color-matched red T-tops and
hit the road in style.
Performance is decent considering the original, numbers-matching
L48 lives under the hood. Nicely detailed, including a new air
cleaner and finned valve covers, plus bright yellow plug wires and
a custom radiator shroud, it looks well-maintained and clean. The
original Quadra-Jet carb is gone, replaced by a 600 CFM Edelbrock
4-barrel on a matching intake manifold, long-tube headers build
torque, and the ignition system has been upgraded to HEI. It's not
detailed for show underneath, but if you want a Corvette you can
get in and drive any time without worries, one that won't have you
fretting over a little rain, well, this is just the ticket. There's
a new exhaust system that really sounds fantastic, new U-joints on
the driveshaft and half-shafts, as well as new bushings that make
it feel like a newer car. Correct Corvette Rally wheels are still
in place and now wear 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFG
radials.
Clean, no-stories Corvettes are getting harder to find, and this
one's combination of a warmed-over 350 and a brilliant color
combination might be just what you're looking for. Call today!
