This 1991 Suzuki Cappuccino was recently imported from Japan in
early November 2016. These lightweights were known for their ideal
50/50 weight distribution and high-revving motors which kept them
relevant on the track when in the hands of a skilled driver.
The exterior of this Cappuccino is impressive. Upon arrival in the
United States, this car received a thorough, emblem-off detailing
which included a clay bar treatment, compound, wax, and sealant.
The body work appears to be nearly flawless, with only a few small
blemishes. All the signal lenses are clear and free of any glazing
or cracking, and the emblems were polished and reinstalled after
the detailing was completed. A unique feature of the Cappuccino is
its three-piece hardtop and foldable rear glass section which give
passengers several configurations to choose from including a fully
enclosed coupe, T-top, Targa, or full convertible. Included with
the vehicle are the protective bags for the roof sections. The
Cappaccino rides on new Kumho tires which are mounted on factory
seven-spoke wheels.
Powering this unique Suzuki is a 657-cc, 67-hp turbocharged and
intercooled inline three-cylinder engine. The engine is paired to a
five-speed manual transmission. A large diameter sport exhaust has
been fitted by the previous owner, it's described as producing a
nice tone and isn't overly loud or raucous. A recent service on the
car included an oil change as well as a new battery, alternator,
spark plugs and filters. The timing belt was changed at some point
by the previous owner, but the mileage count at the time remains
unverified. The firewall, shock towers, and front air dam are in
excellent condition and don't show any evidence of corrosion, and
the motor is free of any grime or fluid deposits. The undercarriage
is also very clean. As a whole, the car is very nicely
detailed.
The interior is completed in a dark grey and remains remarkably
well-preserved throughout. The dashboard shows normal wear for a
car of this age with no cracking or signs of sun fade. The leather
bucket seats present nicely with the bolsters appearing to show
only minor signs of wear. The instrument cluster is clear and
legible, with the odometer showing less than 67,000-kilometers and
the tachometer prominently displaying the motor's high-revving
8,500-rpm redline. The car currently has a Kenwood stereo, but
having originated in Japan it doesn't pick up frequencies in the
United States. While the Cappuccino is a smaller convertible it
does have ample storage space behind the seats as well as in the
trunk. The owner describes the trunk as being able to fit a duffel
bag as long as the roof panels are installed up top. Below the
trunk floor rests a spare tire, tool kit and jack.
This Suzuki Cappuccino is an excellent opportunity to own a unique
Japanese roadster. One would be hard-pressed to find one in better
condition in the United States.
