The Porsche 356 did not change much through its production. It did
receive nuances and facelifts but nothing major. In 1960 the bumper
placement and placement of the headlights were raised to meet U.S.
requirements. At the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1963, the Porsche 356C
was introduced. With this new model the old drum brakes were
replaced with four-wheel disc brakes. This new change to the
chassis was a welcome change since the top speeds pushed 115-mph.
Three different configurations were offered: the C' which had
75-hp, the SC' which had 95-hp and the Carrera 2 which was
adequately equipped with 130-hp.
The SC marked Porsche's highest evolution of the 356 Series prior
to embarking on the next major accomplishment, the 911. Porsche
enthusiasts agree that there truly is no better driving 356 than an
SC model. They are wonderfully balanced, proportioned and powered
and are perpetually sought after. It is estimated that only 588
Porsche 356 Cabriolets were produced for this model year.
Offered here is a restored 1965 Porsche 356 Cabriolet that is
powered by the 95 horsepower air-cooled four-cylinder engine. The
stout engine is fueled by dual down draft carburetors and backed by
a manual shifting transmission. The exterior is presented well and
finished with white paint, chrome wheels, single sideview mirror
and a black Haartz convertible top. The interior is completed with
black leather that shows sign of use from driving the car. The
interior also features a glove box, radio and electric clock.
