In 2005 Ferrari introduced the limited-edition 575 Superamerica.
The Superamerica name harkened back to the flagship Ferraris of the
1950s and 1960s, and marked the first time the name had been used
since 1964. Penned by Pininfarina, the 575 Superamerica featured a
beautiful design with a unique Revocromico roof which can rotate
away in less than ten seconds. In the down position, the rotating
top rests on the rear of the car so as not to compromise trunk
storage. The top is made of carbon fiber and electrochromatic glass
which allows occupants to adjust the tint in the cabin to their
desired level. At the time of its release the 575 Superamerica held
the title of the worlds fastest convertible with a top speed of
199-mph.
The 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica on offer is presented in the
desirable shade of Rosso Corsa. The exterior features Scuderia
Ferrari fender shields as well as factory five-spoke wheels which
conceal the cars front and rear carbon ceramic disc brakes. The
car is powered by a 5,748-cc, 540-hp V-12 engine which is paired to
a six-speed electro-hydraulic F-1 transmission with paddle
shifters. The interior is completed in Pelle Beige and looks as
though it just left the factory. Accompanying this 575 Superamerica
is its Ferrari Classiche report, associated manuals, tool kit, and
air pump.
Featuring a very early production number, this 575 Superamerica is
believed to be the only the second Superamerica built. According to
the information in the Ferrari Classiche report the car was
originally delivered in December of 2005 to Ferraris North
American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey - possibly to
promote Ferraris new unique offering in the United States. Ferrari
produced only 559 examples of the 575 Superamerica which only adds
to the rarity of this early production example.
