"Initially called the "911 Turbo", by the time it reached
production in 1975 the model was called the "turbo" with internal
designation 930. The Turbo didn't officially arrive on North
American shores until the 1976 model year. Reworked to be emissions
friendly, the North American model was officially coined the "Turbo
Carrera" by marketing. Porsche continued to produce the 3.0-liter
930 through the 1977 model year, before switching to an intercooled
3.3-liter engine. In total there were 2,819 of the first generation
3.0-liter 930 Turbo Carrera produced, with only 1,237 originally
destined for the United States." Offered here is a beautifully
kept, low-mileage example of the desirable, Series I 3.0-Litre 930
Turbo. The 362nd example built of the 727 car model-run of that
production year, this exceptional 930 was completed at the
Zuffenhausen Porsche factory on January 28th 1977, finished in
special order color Copper Brown Metallic over Dark Brown Leather
and is believed to have been delivered through Salt Lake City, Utah
based Porsche agency Dave Strong Porsche - Audi. 362 is said to
have had just three caretakers from new and 31k original miles,
while most recently residing Sothern California, where is received
a comprehensive servicing, stunning new correct upholstery and
paint.
Its current presentation and drivability are outstanding as a
beautifully freshened driver, while retaining its original,
matching numbers powerplant. All trim and factory decals remain in
place, along with the exceedingly rare and Turbo exclusive
Blaupunkt Bamberg radio with programmable tuning and microphone
recording. The undercarriage is exceptionally tidy and dry, as one
would expect for a lower mileage car. Offered with original 6/76
date coded Spare, Jack, Owner's Manual, Warranty and Maintenance
book, Blaupunkt Manuals, 1/77 Technical Specifications booklet all
in vinyl sleeve and Porsche COA - this example is deserving of
close attention from enthusiasts and collectors alike. It is with
good measure that these early 930 Turbos are highly coveted, as
they represent a new era in Porsche engineering and design. Now
available for worldwide purchase and delivery.
