This is true 1969 triple black 427ci/390hp Corvette
Convertible.
The car was finished to be an L88 tribute, but with an installed
radio and working heat as you know a true L88 didn't have. It has
the correct hood, red spark plug wires, badging, and small air
cleaner.
The car came from Omaha, NE to Michigan in the late 80's and has
been here ever since. It had a frame off restoration in 1990 and
has only 3,000 miles put on it since. The body was stripped all the
way down to the fiberglas and repainted. The convertible top was
replaced with a brand new one, original trans was rebuilt and mated
to a Hurst super shifter, rear end was rebuilt with 3:73 gears,
entire interior was replaced with new, and seat covers/headrests
replaced with leather. All the suspension is new and attached to a
solid (never hit) frame. See photos.
The GM block is a stamped as #3963512 dated L-15-9, the heads are
3919840 high performance dated E-6-9, the Edlebrock Torker intake
has a Holly Carb on top with a Mallory Tach drive distributor, and
L-88 camshaft by Crane cams and solid lifters. The block is .030
over with 12:1 compression. The engine was built by Performance
Engineering and ran on the dyno with 550hp at 7000rpm. We have the
paperwork from Performance Engineering dated 8/31/1990.
From 1990 to 1995 the car was driven 3000 miles, it was put in
storage and not driven since then until this year. Since the owner
wanted it to be safe to drive they put all new 4 redline BF
Goodrich radial tires on it, replaced all four calipers, brake
hoses, and a master cylinder. To finish it off, a wheel alignment
was done and drives like new again, the way it should! The spark
plugs & wires, and mufflers were also replaced.
