Up for sale we have a 1968 Mercury Cougar. This Cougar is nicely
done and will make you a great driver with Power Steering and
Brakes. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief
description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the
Mercury, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee.
We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no
consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You
can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a
big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So,
that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us
for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at
(865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Cougar. The body is
straight with good lines and gaps. This is an older restoration but
the Saxony Yellow Paint still looks very nice and is accented by
the Black Vinyl top that appears to have been replaced when the car
was painted. All the weather stripping and seals are in good
condition. The bumpers are also nice along with the stainless. As
for the headlight doors, they are working along with the tail
lights and turn signals. To finish off the exterior it's sitting on
a set of Magnum Wheels with the Cougar center caps and BFGoodrich
Red Line Tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of the '68. It's all done in
black with the correct bucket seats and console with the T Handle
Shifter. The seats, door panels, and carpet are all in great
condition along with the headliner. Looking at the it all looks
correct with a good dash pad. It has the working AM FM Radio and
the Wood Wheel. Also, it comes with seat belts front and rear.
Finally, we will look at the driveline of the Mercury. Under the
hood, it's powered by a 302 V8 that's mated to a C4 Auto Trans and
an 8" Rear End with a 2.78 gear. The engine bay all looks stock
down to the York compressor for the AC. All the AC components
appear to be there but the compressor is bad. This Cougar has dual
exhaust and factory manifolds. For options, it has Power Steering.
When you look under it the floors are under coated but all appear
solid along with the frame rails.
