This is a Curtis built COPO style vehicle in COPO gold color. Has disc brakes and power steering. Frame-off restoration, Curtis built COPO style in COPO gold color Member Curtis McLachlan is selling his 1966 El Camino which he lovingly calls 'The Brown Paper Bag This is a one of a kind vehicle, because Chevrolet never made a COPO El Camino, but Curtis builds custom cars and some of them he supplies for television and motion picture shoots. Many of you saw his extraordinary work at our annual car show this past July 4th. If you saw' the one of a kind 502 Cubic Inch Chevrolet Big Block stuffed under the hood of his Rolls Royce Super Sport that was at our show', that is one of Curtis' builds. For those of you unfamiliar with the COPO Program, in the 1960's Chevrolet had a special program called Central Office Production Orders or COPO for short. This was a program where dealers could order special cars the general public could not. These vehicles were stuffed with big block engines that were unavailable to the general public at the time. Many of these special COPO cars were Camaro's, Chevelle's and Nova's and they became factory turn-key race cars that took on the Ford's and MOPARS at the drag strip. This one of a kind El Camino is a frame off' restoration and she is clean top to bottom. Under the hood is a 468 cubic inch 525 horsepower big block with aluminum heads, solid roller cam, 750 Holly carb, Richmond 5- speed manual transmission, and a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end with 373 gears. The car has all the good stuff but it's a stripped down, no frills Muscle Car, just like the original COPO cars. It has a heater, wipers and hom, but none of them are hooked up. If you look at the interior pictures, you won't see a radio, but it does have a CD stereo system hidden behind the bucket seats. The car only has 9300 miles on the odometer
