Offered here is a timeless Mercedes-Benz sedan for
consideration. The W108 series ran from 1965-1973 with 380,000
built in that year range. Of those models, the 280S was in
production from November 1967 to September 1972 with 93,000
manufactured in those five years. A few more than the baby brother
W113, but unlike the Pagoda, this car can accommodate the whole
family.
This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280S 4-Door Sedan example is powered by the
original 2.8L/157hp 2x2bbl Zenith 6-Cylinder engine mated to a
4-speed automatic gearbox with rear-wheel drive. The car was
repainted in 1999 the original Red (576), which still looks
fantastic today, and it houses the original black leather interior,
also in remarkable condition (see photos). The car looks just as
good as it drives. In 2016, our client rebuilt the front end with a
full new brake system, transmission service, replaced front crank
seal, rebuilt carbs, replaced control arms, spark plugs, gaskets,
etc. This is the second classic Mercedes we have sold for this
client and he is very particular about his vehicles. This one is no
exception. It starts on command and offers a nostalgic
German-engineered driving experience.
He purchased the vehicle several years ago out of Colombus, Ohio
where it had been preserved with care. It has been stored in a
climate-controlled garage while in Michigan and has never seen the
snow or salty roads. We have a file of receipts and boxes full of
spare parts that go with the car. You will be hard-pressed to find
another one this clean at the price we have offered here. All
surfaces, including the brightwork, wood trim, paint, and seats,
remain in excellent condition. It also comes with a spare tire,
jack, and tools.
This is an amazing car at a very reasonable price. Based on Hagerty
Valuation projections, this car is still climbing in collectability
– you can literally drive and enjoy your investment. Call or e-mail
if interested. Thank you for looking.
