BODYWORK/TRIM
A pampered garage queen that's traveled a mere 894 sunny day miles
in the hands of one meticulous owner, this premium Mustang has
wowed crowds ever since it rolled in to our 250-car showroom. Its
radiant appearance begins with carbon fiber body panels that are
traced in rich Magnetic Metallic 2-stage and a full array of Matte
Black Shelby stripes. That monochromatic detailing, which hangs
clean "SUPER SNAKE" cutouts opposite traditional "SHELBY" cutouts,
highlights aggressive rockers, bold fender emblems, and heated,
power-operated and carbon fiber capped mirrors. Above those
mirrors, tinted glass centers a clear Center High Mount Stop Lamp
on a sculpted wing, intermittent wipers and a contoured hood that's
finished with color-keyed vents. At the tip of that hood, automatic
HID headlamps combine with LED fog lamps to light a 3M-coated
front-clip, which anchors anodized billet grilles behind a carbon
fiber splitter and requisite Super Snake branding. And, opposite
that signage, a carbon fiber valance founds an ornate Shelby
roundel and sequential LED taillights between a carbon fiber
diffuser, bold "S H E L B Y" lettering and polished stainless
exhaust tips.
ENGINE
Created as a turnkey package for enthusiasts who want a reliably
engineered Mustang that unlocks the full potential of Ford's
legendary Coyote V8, this spotless thoroughbred utilizes a proven
whipple supercharger to crank out an astonishing 750 horsepower!
Front-and-center, the car's polished blower makes good use of Ford
cold air induction, which marries clean aesthetics with excellent
efficiency. Speaking of efficiency, a high-performance Shelby GT
radiator helps the raucous mill keep its cool. At the sides of the
engine, monochromatic Shelby coil covers join a carbon fiber latch
cover and Shelby-branded caps and fluid reservoirs to dress things
up a bit. And, as with all Shelby specialties, this Mustang proudly
displays a small Shelby American badge that verifies its
authenticity. Aesthetically, the spotless mill features a typical
OEM-level appearance that displays hardly any signs of usage. And
when you twist the eager engine's key, you become the lead composer
of a veritable orchestra of sinister whines and octane-fueled
roars!
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Straight from Dearborn the S550 Mustang is a very capable
foundation; and with a few upgrades from Shelby American, it
becomes a true force to be reckoned with! Behind the engine, a
Shelby-cooled 6R80 6-speed utilizes convenient paddle shifters to
twist a Shelby 1-piece, aluminum driveshaft. That tube spins a
Shelby-cooled 8.8-inch carrier, which utilizes a WaveTrac
differential and Shelby 3.55 gears to jerk sturdy Shelby
half-shafts. That drivetrain powers a tight Ford Racing suspension,
which is augmented with electronic power steering, a Shelby
camber/castor kit and Shelby's adjustable rear toe rod. At the
corners of those bones, red Shelby/Wilwood calipers, ducted,
6-piston units up front and 4-piston units out back, utilize
standard anti-lock hardware and AdvanceTrac traction control to
squeeze drilled and slotted rotors. At the corners of the floor,
Matte Black blades spin 275/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in
front of 305/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The car's killer
engine note is provided by a rowdy Shelby GT exhaust system. And
overall, the bottom of this wicked Ford appears to have spent 80%
of its life tucked away in a dry garage and 20% of its life serving
as a pampered weekend cruiser.
INTERIOR
Inside this coupe, bright Katzkin inserts adorn snug buckets seats,
two of which are Shelby-branded Ford Racing Recaros that feature
5-point Schroth safety harnesses. The dash is a familiar Mustang
layout, which hangs satin-trimmed instrumentation beneath a small
Shelby American badge and Shelby-commissioned Auto Meter Cobalt
accessory gauges. Below those gauges, SYNC 3 infotainment bundles a
CD player, MP3 compatibility, satellite capability and
voice-activated navigation over dual-zone climate control and
pushbutton start. At the base of that waterfall, a short gear
selector leads an impressive console that's detailed with lighted
cupholders. Beneath that island, rich carpet backs Shelby-branded
floor mats, metal-trimmed foot pedals and lighted Super Snake
sills. Above those sills, French-stitched panels found power door
locks and 1-touch power windows in front of trick pony puddle
lamps. In front of the driver, a Shelby-branded steering wheel
spins a red-stitched rim around adaptive cruise control and a tilt
and telescoping column. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd
expect in a high dollar modern car are ready and waiting,
including: Intelligent Access, ambient lighting, selectable drive
modes, Track Apps with line lock, a crisp Shaker sound system and a
standard rearview camera.
