1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Convertible in St. Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

Very well cared for, high optioned Super Sport convertible factory fitted with 409ci V8, Powerglide, air conditioning, and full power accessories!  Same owner for nearly 30 years and always garage kept!  The holy grail of Impala Super Sports!  By 1964, Chevrolet’s Impala had evolved from the large, fin-wearing car of the late 1950s to a sporty, compact muscle car. The 1964 Impala was one of the cleanest designs to come out of Chevrolet, with its attractive blending of simple form and function. It is also unquestionably one of the most sought after 1960’s cars built by General Motors. For 1964, the Impalas were offered in a standard series as well as the desirable SS or Super Sport series. The Super Sport series was only built as a two-door hardtop and a convertible. They were offered with a variety of power plants ranging from a 230 cid six-cylinder engine all the way up to the legendary 409 cid V-8 engine. This 1964 Impala is likely to be one of the most desirable examples available today. It is not only a true, Super Sport convertible, but it also retains its desirable and original 409 cid/340 horsepower V-8 engine. Other original powertrain options include the reliable, two-speed, Powerglide, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and dual exhaust.  The list of desirable features continues on the inside with a factory air conditioning, bucket seats with a matching center console, power windows, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, tinted glass, two-speed windshield wipers with washers, AM radio and an original, factory compass. This 1964 Impala Super Sport Convertible is an older restoration that was first completed in 1985. Upon being purchased by the last owner-a fussy and particular collector of mid-1960s Chevrolets-this car was given a complete repaint in 2011. Today, this car presents extremely well inside and out. The white paint shows an even and consistent overall gloss and the body presents well from all angles. The chrome and stainless trim items are very clean and show little wear. The car has been stored in a climate- controlled environment and has always been cosmetically and mechanically maintained. On the inside, the simple and correct SS black vinyl interior shows extremely well. The bucket seats, center console, door panels and carpets are in excellent condition and were likely replaced when the car was first restored. The dashboard retains all of its proper gauges and controls. The odometer shows approximately 60,000 miles. The factory accessory tinted glass is in good condition and the black power top is fresh and clean with a matching top boot. Under the hood, the original 409 engine is very clean and tidy. It has the correct valve covers, single, four-barrel carburetor and air cleaner. The engine bay is very presentable and well cared for. All 1964 Chevrolet Impalas are considered desirable by today’s collectors. This rare Super Sport convertible with its 409 engine, factory air conditioning and long list of options would be considered at the top of any car collector’s wish list. It is a well-presented example that is ready to use and enjoy.
