Please contact us for more information. At a time when many of Detroits muscle-car offerings sported bright plumage and brash nameplates the 1969 Pontiac Trans Am was the first and best expression of Pontiacs upscale approach to pony-car performance. The 1969 Firebirds received a comprehensive restyling both inside and out. While the 108-inch wheelbase remained overall exterior dimensions increased giving a new and much more athletic demeanor. The most prominent change was at the front in the form of a new one-piece Lexan fascia with inset quad headlights and a split chromed bumper. In March 1969 the Trans Am option package was offered as RPO WS4. Added to the Firebird lineup without much promotion or pomp the Trans Am package comprised the 400 cu. in. High Output V-8 engine 3-speed manual transmission heavy-duty suspension with front and rear sway bars Safe-T-Track differential and power steering and brakes. The new Trans Am was visually identified by its Cameo White paint and Tyrol Blue striping and graphics full-width front and rear spoilers blacked-out grille front-fender air extractors twin-scoop Ram Air hood and 3-piece Rally II wheels with extra-wide Goodyear Polyglas tires. Surviving examples of the first-year Trans Am are coveted as examples of one of the most significant cars in Pontiac history. Only 689 Trans Ams were sold for 1969. The car presented here is one of 520 Trans Am coupes equipped with a 4-speed transmission and augmented with power steering and brakes. It has been put through a frame-off restoration and upgraded to Ram Air IV configuration. Its trademark white-and-blue livery is matched with a fine-looking blue interior that features bucket seats a console and radio.
