The owner created templates from Bill Harrah's (of Harrah's Casino) original 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster to full reproduction. Starting with the duplicated chassis made to original specifications with 130+ pieces of chrome, the hood is metal and the body is fiberglass replicated to the exact 17' size of the original car in Germany. It is powered by a 560 Mercedes V-8 fuel injected motor, 4 speed automatic transmission with independent front and rear suspension. Power disk brakes all around and power rack and pinion steering, with a Mercedes rear end, and 16" tires are radial with spoke rims. The hubcaps are the only non-original concept on the body of the car (the original hub caps screwed on, the hub caps here are clamped on). The interior is immaculate starting from the imported Mother-of-Pearl to recreate the instrument panel to the chromed dual glove boxes. This concept began when the owner spent 3 days painstakingly taking measurements of Bill Harrah's original 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster to obtain all specifications (estimated at approximately 1 million) then created all of the molds for every part of the car, the jig for the chassis, and the masters for every piece of chrome on the car. All instruments were reproduced to the same size and placement as the original, and the lights were reproduced by Bosh. The Hartz convertible top is black, and also reproduced identical to the original manual specifications. This past summer (2016) this automobile took top prize at the Mercedes-Benz annual event held in New England, winning numerous awards including "Best in Class" but actually won "Best at Show" - which means every class, every model and every category, it won 1st place.
