For Sale at Auction: 1931 Pierce Arrow 43-137 in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale WITHOUT RESERVE and SOLD to the highest bidder January 19th - 22nd 2017 at Russo and Steeles 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. The car is generally in good mechanical condition having just spent approximately 5,000 to ensure the car works and is drivable. The body is sound. As far as I and my mechanic can tell all parts match and it appears to have all of its parts, down to its Pierce-designated hubcaps. As far as is known the car was first purchased by Francis O. Maxwell who bought the car new for delivery in Kansas City MO. Mr. Maxwell kept the car until he passed away in 1959. Title was assigned by Mr. Maxwell's administrator Mr. McElroy to Mr. E.B. McCormack a realtor in Overland Park Kansas. Mr. McCormack sold the car in 1959 to Mr. R.H. McDonald of Kansas City for the sum of 400. Mr. McDonnell was a partner in the firm of Burns & McDonnell Engineers-Architects and Consultants of Kansas City MO. Mr. Donald Warnock acquired the car from Mr. McDonnell in 1962. Mr. Warnock was a television and radio personality in the Kansas City area for 57 years. The history of his life can be found here http//www.legacy.com/obituaries/kansascity/obituary.aspxpid97646008 The current owner purchased the car from Mr. Warnock's widow in 2011 and moved the car to California. The current owner purchased the car because he grew up in Buffalo New York the location of the Pierce Arrow manufacturing facility hearing stories of Pierce-Arrow automobiles. Unfortunately, the current owner was never able to undertake the full restoration needed. Mr. Warnock did a thorough restoration of the car in the mid-1960s. He belonged to various classic car clubs and participated in various events in the Kansas City area. The car has always been maintained sufficiently so that it was drivable. The body and interior are in need of restoration.
