Vehicle Description
To promote the technological advances and mechanical achievements of its new modular engine, Ford introduced the Mystic Cobra for 1996, which featured high-tech, color-shifting paint formulated by BASF. Utilizing color-shifting ChromaFlair pigments from Flex Products, the Mystic paint shifted from green to amber to gold to purple depending on the angle and the availability of light. The research and development process for this paint took three years to complete. Only available on the Cobra coupe, the Mystic paint option cost only $815 at the time, and the 1996 Mystic Cobra was the first production vehicle to wear a color-shifting factory paint job. Of the limited production of 7,492 Cobra Coupes in 1996 this is one of only 1,990 produced in this very rare and desirable custom color. Powered by the cutting-edge all-aluminum, dual-overhead cam (DOHC), modular 4.6-liter V8 engine, this Mustang is a real screamer with high-revving characteristics. The Mustang Cobra boasts a 305hp total output which is good for a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds, the quarter-mile in 13.9 and a top speed of 152mph making it one of the fastest performance cars of its time. This Mustang has been carefully maintained since new and has 217 actual miles on its odometer (mileage not indicated on the title).
