This one-of-a-kind 1974 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser has been treated to a complete body-off restoration with upgrades and improvements resulting in a spectacular resto-mod. Originally a very clean, rust-free example, the truck was purchased by world-renowned off-road shop TLC 4x4 of Chatsworth, CA. TLC removed the body, stripped and media-blasted the chassis before it was primed and powder coated mil-spec black. The body is in excellent condition and totally devoid of any dings or dents. The high gloss red paint is in exquisite condition with only minor stone chips in front and a few scratches on the front fenders. The top is painted a high gloss white and shows beautifully.
The engine was a brand-new GM LS1 5.3L crate motor that was installed during the restoration prior to the current owner's purchase in November of 2014. The LS1's ample power is channeled through a new 4L65E 5-speed automatic gearbox. Stock axles were retained and upgraded disc brakes added. Additional upgrades include power steering, dual Odyssey batteries, air conditioning, ICON projector LED headlights, ICON custom Bull Bar front bumper and a since discontinued Kaymar dual pivot rear bumper. Inside there is a custom roll bar and modern stereo in the Tuffy center console. Seating is by Recaro with power adjustments for the front seats and original rear-facing jump seats in the back. All seats have been reupholstered in highly durable black vinyl and show virtually no wear. The original steering wheel has been retained and features a new hand-stitched leather wrap. New glass was installed along with new doors. All seals, locks, handles and most other trim was replaced with new.
Wheels are 17x8 Black Rock Yuma aluminum with Xtreme Pro Comp 285/70R 17 All Terrain tires. This fantastic Land Cruiser mostly retains its original classic appearance while incorporating many modern conveniences making it a great everyday driver that's sure to appreciate in value.
