Vehicle Description
1961 MG A ROADSTER
--Red with Tan leather interior, Tan Carpets and Black convertible top and factory hard top, 4-speed, 7,000 mile since restoration, wire wheels and period driving lights, matching numbers, restored.
The MGA was in a completely different league to its predecessors. A new era sports car for its day, it was extremely stylish and an instant hit, selling more than 13,000 units in its first year of production. The MGA was a true 100+ mph sport car.
This MGA was first delivered to its Baltimore dealer “Foreign Motors Ltd” and was equipped with the following accessories: Heater ($59.00), Tonneau Cover ($35.00), Sliding Windows ($40.00) and was listed with an MSRP of $2578.00. It is also currently equipped with wire wheels, chrome badge bar, twin side view mirrors, wind-wings and side curtains.
This MGA 1600 roadster underwent a 100-point restoration in the early 2000’s and prior to being sold to its last owner by Autosport Designs. At the time it was without a doubt one of the finest in existence. It has been featured in several magazines and has been awarded with several trophies including “Best of Show” at the national NAMGAR convention.
Today, it is still in excellent condition, a testament to the original restoration. It is currently in superb cosmetic and mechanical condition, it has been serviced properly while in its past ownership and has only the slightest honest patina from its limited, collector owned use throughout the years and since its restoration. On a recent road test, it drove extremely well and tight and as one would expect of a properly maintained and cared for example of an MGA.
This MG A is supplied with its original window sticker, owner's manual and a complete tool kit. It is eligible for some of the finest historic rallies and offered for a fraction of its restoration cost.
