Vehicle Description
The Ford motor company introduced the Thunderbird in 1955 and
continued over the course of eleven-model generations through 2005.
It created a market niche that was brand new to the automotive
scene and eventually was marketed and known as the personal luxury
car. The fourth generation like the car we are offering here was
built from 1964-1966. As before it was offered in hardtop,
convertible and landau versions. The standard engine was the 390
cubic inch V8 offering 300 HP and was paired to a 3-speed automatic
transmission. Only in 1966 was an optional 428 cubic inch V8
producing 345 HP offered for this generation.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1966 Ford Thunderbird
town hardtop coming in a very nicely and recently done Candyapple
Red. The interior is in the classic white vinyl with black accents,
while all of the features of the original T-Bird are there this one
does have some pieces that need some attention. While the
headlights, windows, mirrors and latches on the hood and trunk, as
well as the tires and wheels are in great shape not to mention the
body of the car looks terrific. There are a few minor issues that
need to be addressed, but the car still fires up and drives great!
The engine in is the larger optional for the time 7.0 428ci V8 with
the Ford C6 3-speed automatic. This is a fantastic running and
looking Thunderbird and with just a little bit of love, this can be
brought back to all of its glory and fame that comes along with the
namesake!
