Vehicle Description
The bold red paint, extra comfortable A/C interior, and the wicked
sound from the exhaust all add up to let you know this is no
ordinary 1975 Chevrolet Corvette. When you get the performance
small block on the road, and feel the upgraded suspension, you'll
realize this is a labor of love that turned this Stingray into the
perfect all-around classic.
Is it sacrilegious to paint a Corvette in Viper Red? Not when it
looks this good. This Stingray is so slick, it seems fast standing
still. The urethane bumpers front and rear gave the C3 an
appearance of one long continuous wave, and it made the '75 much
more of a designer's work of art. So with an investment in the
modern red, this coupe radiates power even sitting in a dark
garage. But just because this was a more uniform look did not mean
this one skipped out on brightwork. Those large and iconic 17-inch
Cragar SS wheels give this hero a performance appearance that it
backs up in the engine bay (more on that in a moment.)
Pristine black leather is the perfect way to present an aggressive
performance car's interior, but there's also much more going on
here. Corvettes have always been a great personal sports car by
providing performance features with plenty of creature comforts to
make it a great long-distance cruiser. As the driver you get a
three-spoke steering wheel. Just ahead of that is the large dual
pod gauges for the speedo and tach, and just to the side are a full
set of auxiliary readouts. Plus, you have the convenience of power
windows, tilt wheel, rear defogger, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.
This is a T-top coupe so you can really let the wind run through
the cabin. And on those hot summer days when the breeze is not
enough, there's modern R134a air conditioning to cool keep you
cool, too.
Under the hood is a show-stopping V8. With the air grabber, valve
covers, piping, fan shrouds, radiator, pulleys, and so much more
shining like mirrors, we dare you to find another component that
can be polished. But once you look beyond the shine, you'll see
some serious substance, too. The 327 cubic-inch small block is a
full performance build with AFR cylinder heads, performance cam,
Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer intake, and
long tube headers. The last one feeds the thundering MagnaFlow dual
exhaust, so everyone knows your power superiority. But more than
just a motor, it has all the right components to back it up, too.
This includes an aluminum water pump and a large four-core aluminum
radiator w/dual electric fans. So there's no problem being in
traffic with the A/C running, and the true usability is exactly how
you should view this custom Corvette. Its even been upgraded with a
four-speed overdrive transmission and a Positraction rear end with
versatile 3.55 gears. But take some time to look at the
undercarriage photos, and there you'll understand that this one is
good for much more than just highway cruising. Not only does the
suspension match the red paint nicely, but also more importantly,
the full Stage 3 upgrade from the suspension masters at Vette
Brakes creates the perfect backroads companion. Add in slotted
four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, polyurethane bushings, and
the grip of modern Kumho tires, and this is a C3 that can run
circles around far more modern machines.
