For Sale: 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 in Carson, California

Vehicle Description

With a restyle in 1969 that added a bit of size and heft to its design, along with dual headlights set both inside and outside the grille, the 1969 Ford Mustang shared much of its styling with the earlier ’67-’68 Mustangs, but had a unique look all its own. Fastback models, referred to as the SportsRoof by Ford in their promotional literature, received scoops in the rear quarter panels for an overall look that was decidedly more aggressive than previous generations of Mustangs and that aggressive, new styling nicely complements what’s under the hood of this 1969 Mustang Fastback Mach 1. This car was built July 23, 1969 at Ford’s Metuchen, New Jersey plant, according to its data tag, and the Mach 1 package, first available in 1969, came with a matte black hood, hood pins, competition suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, deluxe interior, dealer optional chin spoiler, and rear spoiler. This Mach 1 Mustang features a 351 Windsor V8 engine, also first introduced in 1969, that has been heavily modified with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor mounted on an Edelbrock Torker II intake, along with a Nitrous Oxide Systems 125 horsepower nitrous setup. Other upgrades include Edelbrock valve covers, billet aluminum pulleys, an MSD 6AL ignition with an MSD 2-step launch controller, MSD adjustable timing control, MSD billet distributor, MSD Blaster 3 ignition coil, line lock, and transbrake. Power is put to the ground through a Ford 9” rear end, and the car has been upgraded with subframe connectors, driveshaft loop, and a remote battery disconnect. The black interior features a rollcage, an Autometer tach and speedometer, a B&M Megashifter, and a set of Bosch gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, fuel, and voltage. Originally painted Candy Apple Red, this Mach 1 is now maroon but still retains its Mach 1 matte black hood, front spoiler, rear wing, and hood pins. While the interior and exterior of this Mustang do show some age, as a rare Mach 1 and a one year only body style as well, it’s a definitive piece of American muscle car history and would make a nice addition to any collection as a rare and highly desirable muscle car.
