Beginning in 1964 the GTO was offered as a performance package on Pontiac's intermediate size car the Tempest. It would be a surprise hit and open up the eyes of American Automakers. Move along to 1969 and the Muscle car wars were at their peak. Engines were big and powerful with body designs being sleek and smooth. This 69 is a great example of why everyone was going crazy for them. The body retains the original sheet metal making this 69 a rare find. Under the hood is Pontiac's pride and joy 400 small block that many enthusiasts consider to be one of the best things to ever come from Pontiac. The heads were just removed and sent off to a machine shop for a port and polish with a new set of valves installed as well. The cam is a little better than stock giving this 400 a great lope and would help to explain all of that bottom end torque. With the fuel pump, water pump, alternator and starter all replaced this black beauty is definitely turnkey if there ever was one. Inside the perfect complement to the jet black exterior pulls you in. If the cream vinyl looks new that’s because it is and with the black carpet tying everything together this is one of the best looking interiors I have seen. Yet still the best part has to be the Hurst shifter coming up through the center console. The Muncie 4 speed with the 400 has to be one of the, most iconic combo's from the muscle car era and leaves nothing to be desired.
