Reintroduced in 2011 as a police vehicle in North America, the current Chevrolet Caprice is based on the Australian Holden of the same name and is available only to U.S. and Canadian law enforcement agencies. This 2013 Chevrolet Caprice PPV, which stands for Police Patrol Vehicle, is powered by a Flex-fuel 6.0L 364ci L77 V8 engine mated to a Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission and with 355 horsepower and 384 ft. lbs. of torque on tap, this Caprice has no problem keeping up in a chase. Additionally, the PPV Caprice features a performance tuned suspension consisting of heavy-duty shocks, upgraded springs, and thicker swaybars, along with a special engine tuning package known as PAL which stands for Performance Algorithm Liftfoot. When activated the vehicle computer will put the engine and transmission into performance mode to allow the transmission to "understand" the driving conditions and select the appropriate gear through tight turns and provides the required engine torque necessary for performance driving by keeping the RPM’s in the sweet spot of the powerband. Other features include power brakes and power steering while inside the interior features include power windows, power door locks with keyless entry, power mirrors, power seats, dual zone climate control with A/C, remote trunk release, cruise control, and a rearview mirror with digital compass while the front seats have been specially designed to accommodate those wearing police gear such as an equipment belt. The dash features an LCD touch screen that houses controls for the AM/FM radio with CD player, as well as controls for navigation and phone calls. The instrument panel has gauges for temperature and fuel, along with a tachometer and a certified speedometer, along with a display in the middle that contains a digital speedometer with trap speed function, tire pressure monitor, oil life monitor, hourmeter with readouts for both total and idle time, range monitor with fuel consumption and a monitor for average speed and average MPG. The Caprice rides on a set of Goodyear Eagle RS-A 235/50R18 tires mounted on police-spec 18-inch steel wheels with center caps and a set of Chevrolet SS badges have been added to the trunk and front fenders to give the Caprice a bit of attitude. Other police-spec features on the Caprice are leather rear seats and a factory dual battery setup located in the trunk which was used to power police equipment. The black metallic exterior of the Caprice shows well and has just been repainted, while the interior does show some wear but is in good condition overall as well. Overall, this 2013 Chevrolet Caprice is an excellently maintained retired police vehicle that is high performance with a low profile. This Caprice is in every way a true sleeper that drives great and is comfortable enough to be a daily driver.
